Rekha Thapa is a Nepali actress, model and film maker. She was a top ten finalist for Miss Nepal in 1999.[1] Two years later she made her movie debut in Chhabiraj Ojha's Hero. She has worked in around 200 Nepali movies and has gained popularity in the Nepali cine world because of her glamorous role. She owns the movie production house Rekha Entertainment. In 2010 and 2011 she won the CG Digital Film Awards for Best Actress, and in 2011 she also won the NEFTA Film Awards for Best Actress.
Thapa is also a social worker helping poor families and children who are in need.[citation needed]

Biography
Thapa was born in Morang in western Nepal. After graduating from school, she moved to Kathmandu to go to college. She took part in the Miss Nepal Pageant in 1999, and ended up in second place.[1]
Thapa worked as a model, and was subsequently approached by the producer Chhabiraj Ojha with a proposal to work in the movie "Hero" with Rajesh Hamal. During the shooting of Hero, Chhabiraj Ojha proposed to her, and the two were married in traditional style.[citation needed] After ten years, the couple separated.
Thapa and her husband produced more than 8 movies under the name Rekha Films. Rekha Thapa has worked for more than a hundred movies since the early 2000s.[citation needed]
Thapa is a member of the Nepalese Maoist Party.[2]

Thapa's entry in a top Political Party UCPN (Maoist) amidst a public program at party headquarters office of UCPN (Maoist) in Koteshwor, Kathmandu has been criticised by some of her fans.[2] In November 2009, while protesting for Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) on supremacy in the government, Rekha Thapa was seen dancing with the Prachanda who encircled Durbar Square, the government headquarter.[3] In December 2009, Rekha Thapa was seen kissing the shortest man in the world, Khagendra Thapa Magar.[4]
