During its first year on Mars, Curiosity has taken its fair share of selfies, had a scare or two, and discovered a wealth of information about Mars.
The rover landed on 6 August using an innovative, hovering Sky Crane, which lowered it to the surface using cables, and since then has discovered possible evidence for tectonic activity, confirmed that Martian rocks contain the key ingredients for life, and detected water and organic compounds.
As well as being a science hit, Curiosity has also been a media star -- it was shortlisted for Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2012 and has gained over a million followers on Twitter.
With Opportunity Rover still functional after nine years, here's hoping that Curiosity far exceeds its intended two-year mission.
