Supreme Court issues interim order to resume services at health institutions
KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20 - The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to resume services at health institutions. Saying hospitals were the services of utmost importance, a single bench of justice Prakash Wasti ordered to resume all the halted services within an hour of issuance of the verdict.
The court has handed down the interim order in the name of Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, Dr. Govind K.C., who has been on fast-unto-death against appointment of new dean at IoM, Chairman of Nepal Medical Association Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha among other 15.
General Secretary of the Consumers' Welfare Protection Forum Jyoti Baniya and Advocate Sunil Ranjit had filed a writ at the Supreme Court demanding the resumption of health services. Senior Orthopedist at the Institution of Medicine (IoM) in Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Govind K.C. has been staging fast-unto-death against the appointment of the new dean for the past 10 days.
